Kudos to BND photographer Derik Holtmann for his exhilarating bird's-eye-view photos of the ongoing new Mississippi River bridge construction in the paper Feb. 10. Who says photography is not for the faint of heart?

I also appreciated his spotlighting "everyman" Jason Foley of Caseyville. When Foley woke up the morning of Holtmann's photo shoot, I'm sure he never imagined his face would be greeting the BND readership come Sunday morning from a front-page perch.

My hat is off to both of them for the important and challenging jobs they do day in and day out.
