Promotion criteria would stop rape in the military

Published: February 18, 2013

I recently read an article about rape in the military in Rolling Stone magazine. It is high time to hold all senior officers in all branches of the services accountable for their lack of actions in these shameful acts against female members of the military.

People in command must not allow rapes to be pushed under the carpet/sheets. Tying general officers' promotions to the lack of professionalism caused by the lack of prosecutions of cases will change the mentality within the military services.

If a person doesn't do his job he will not get promoted and general officers are not above the military justice system.
