Illinois Department of Transportation workers are concerned about a 50-foot-tall sign that they say could fall on Illinois 111 in Pontoon Beach.

The sign, which belongs to the Hen House restaurant at 1250 E. Chain of Rocks Rd., was damaged about a week ago by high winds. It is supported by two columns and one of them buckled, leaving the advertisement leaning precariously toward the road.

IDOT leaders said they have talked with the management of the Hen House and they were assured that repairs are in the works. But they have not yet been made because windy and wet weather has made it unsafe to bring in a crane needed to fix the sign.
