EAST ST. LOUIS — A 20-year-old East St. Louis man was charged Tuesday in connection with the rape and robbery of a woman a week ago after she got off a MetroLink train.
Marlon Miller was charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one of attempted robbery by St. Clair County prosecutors. Bail was set at $500,000.
Miller remained in custody Tuesday night in the East St. Louis city jail, Police Chief Michael Floore said. He was expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning.
Miller is accused of raping a 32-year-old woman at 12:47 a.m. Feb. 12 after she got off the MetroLink at the Emerson Park station. He walked her to a secluded area away from the station before attacking her.
Floore said the victim begged for her life and told the gunman she had children and was on her way to them. The gunman told her that he didn't care about that.
Miller also beat the woman, Floore said. The victim was taken to a hospital.
