Weekend warmup will help melt ice, snow

Published: February 22, 2013

Temperatures were already above freezing before dawn Friday, giving a break to people trying to dig out from Thursday's winter weather.

The mercury won't climb much higher, however. According to the National Weather Service, the temperature is expected to peak at 37 degrees Friday under mostly cloudy skies. A few snowflakes were falling early Friday morning, but no accumulation is expected.

The temperature will drop to 19 Friday night and will be 34 degrees under sunny skies Saturday. Sunday's high will be 43 degrees with sunny skies. The next chance of precipitation will come Monday when there is a 60 percent chance of rain with a predicted high temperature of 46 degrees.
