Robber on ATV stages bold heist at Maryville bank

Published: February 22, 2013

A robber on an all-terrain vehicle staged a bold, daylight heist Friday morning at a bank in Maryville.

According to Deputy Police Chief Rob Carpenter, at about 10:20 a.m. a suspect wearing all camouflage clothing and blue goggles sped up to two employees of the First Collinsville Bank location at 2729 Maryville Road as they were servicing an automated teller machine in the bank parking lot.

"The subject told the bank tellers to move out of the way," Carpenter said. "He then removed the canisters containing an undisclosed amount of money and fled south on the ATV. No weapon was displayed."

The suspect was last seen riding on a frontage road near Interstate 55-70.

The suspect is described as being 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 in height. The ATV he was riding was gray or black with diamond-shaped plating on a rear bed. It had a side by side seat. The victims were unable to spot a brand name on the vehicle.
