The candidates running for Belleville mayor and Ward 7 alderman have been invited to a forum Tuesday hosted by the Highland Neighborhood Association.

The public event, for residents citywide, starts at 7 p.m. in the Douglas Elementary School gym, 125 Carlyle Ave.

The mayoral candidates are incumbent Mayor Mark Eckert, current Ward 5 Alderman Joe Hayden and current Ward 7 Alderman Phil Elmore.

The candidates for Ward 7 alderman are Trenton Galetti and Victoria Weygandt.

Galetti is aligned with Hayden’s Unified Independent Coalition for All of Belleville.

Weygandt is aligned with Eckert’s Belleville Good Government Party.

The segment with the mayoral candidates will be first and last for 30 to 45 minutes.

Each candidate will make an opening and closing statement. In between, the candidates will answer questions from the audience. Residents must ask questions that apply to all candidates and not targeted at a specific candidate.

The aldermen segment will follow the same format.
