Metro-east players earn Class 1A-2A All-State honors

— The metro-east was well-represented on the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association's Class 1A-2A All-State Girls Basketball Team with nine players named to the four squads, including three first-team selections.

There also were seven players receiving special mention.

Carlyle senior Paige Rakers, Red Bud junior Ali Ringering and Central junior Maddie Timmermann made the first team.

On the second team were: Nashville's Shaye Harre, Okawville's Megan Wienstroer and Central's April Gebke.

Nashville's Jordi Harre and Central's Kendra Wilken were chosen to the third team, while Greenville's Kassidy Alderman was chosen to the fourth team.

Receiving special mention were: Nashville's Erica Brown, Lebanon's Claire Buechele, Greenville's Maria Reinhard, Nashville's Shawn Rennergarbe, Central's Torre Kohrmann, New Athens' Danae White and Lebanon's Kara Koester.

The IBCA All-Star games will be played June 22 at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
