Barb Stamer, a candidate for Edwardsville mayor, opened her campaign headquarters Friday in downtown Edwardsville.
In this election the citizens of Edwardsville will be electing a new mayor for the first time in 20 years. My candidacy offers the voters a clear choice between two candidates with very different qualifications and city government experience, Stamer stated in a news release. During my tenure on Edwardsville City Council, I am sincerely honored to have worked together for 16 years with my friend and colleague Mayor Gary Niebur to move our city forward.
She served as the citys finance chairwoman for nine years, working with other city leaders.
Together we have improved the downtown business district, our residential neighborhoods, and the citys parks and recreation opportunities, she stated.
Stamer has been a member of the Edwardsville City Council for 16 years. As finance chairwoman, she helped develop nine consecutive balanced budgets and is responsible for overseeing the citys $50 million annual operating budget.
Stamer is a lifelong resident of Edwardsville. She is married to Rick Stamer; the couple have three children.
Stamers campaign headquarters is located at 216 St. Louis St.
