Nine worker's comp claims raise questions

Published: February 25, 2013

Attention, St. Clair Township voters. Before you vote on April 9, you need to be aware of something. St. Clair Township Highway Commissioner Mark Burk has not one, not two but five worker's comp claims against a private employer, resulting in thousands of dollars to his wallet. Worker's comp claims must run in his family because his wife has four claims totaling over $76,000.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan was quoted in the BND in May: "Workers who suffer legitimate injuries on the job deserve compensation, but the law needs to be tightened so workers don't abuse it to pick up some extra money." The state is investigating worker's comp fraud cases.

Do you want an elected official with nine worker's comp claims from his family spending your hard-earned tax dollars? Vote for change on April 9.
