Belleville blotter: Would-be burglars cut phone lines, damage door of tavern

Published: February 26, 2013

The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

MONDAY

12:21 p.m. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - Centerfield Tavern, 1403 E. A St. The business owner/victim reported sometime over the weekend, unknown person(s) cut the phone lines and damaged a door to the business in an attempt to gain entry. It does not appear entry was gained.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
