EAST ST. LOUIS — A body was found Wednesday morning in a vacant lot, possibly shot multiple times, and it may be a 52-year-old man who has been missing for several days.
Police Chief Michael Floore said an initial examination of the body found at North 28th Street, between Ohio and State streets, showed what appeared to be multiple bullet wounds.
"It appears to be a homicide. But, we will have to wait for the autopsy to determine how he died," Floore said.
Police are still looking for the man's black truck, Floore said. He was last seen in the truck several days ago.
A passer-by found the body at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday. Floore said police know the man.
Police asked anyone with information about the homicide to call East St. Louis Police at 618-482-6790, Illinois State Police at 618-346-3990 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477. CrimeStoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
