Pleasant Hill Neighborhood Watch has forum for Belleville candidates

The candidates running for Belleville mayor and Ward 2 alderman have been invited to a forum Thursday at a Pleasant Hill Neighborhood Watch meeting.

The public event starts at 7 p.m. at Christ United Church of Christ, 26 N. 14th St. in Belleville.

The watch covers the area near Pleasant Hill Park from North Sixth Street to 17th Street.

The mayoral candidates are incumbent Mayor Mark Eckert, current Ward 5 Alderman Joe Hayden and current Ward 7 Alderman Phil Elmore.

The candidates for Ward 2 alderman are incumbent Dorothy Meyer and Janet Kay Schmidt.

Meyer is aligned with Eckert’s Belleville Good Government Party.

Schmidt is aligned with Hayden’s Unified Independent Coalition for All of Belleville.

The event will follow a town hall format. The mayoral candidates will each present their platform and then answer questions. The aldermen segment will follow the same format.
