Westbrook, Beltran injured Thursday

Published: February 28, 2013

The Cardinals have announced that starting pitcher Jake Westbrook and outfielder Carlos Beltran, who both left the game today against the Miami Marlins with injuries, don't have any serious problems.

Westbrook was hit on the leg with a batted ball and has a bruise. Beltran was hit on the foot with a pitch and X-rays revealed that there were no broken bones.

Both players are day to day and their injuries shouldn't prevent them from getting ready on time for the start of the regular season.

Meanwhile, shortstop Rafael Furcal says he expects to make his Grapefruit League debut this weekend after being limited to designated hitter duties because of a sore elbow.

Furcal claims a bone spur is to blame for his current problem, not the partially torn ligament that ended his 2012 season early.
