Miles to go on rebuilding our nation

Published: February 28, 2013

Since 2009, our country has been in a rebuilding process. Much progress has been made, but we have a long way to go. Without the programs that our president put in place I would hate to see where we would be now. I lived through the Depression and we did with very little to get by. Life was simpler then but you still had to eat and had need for the basics of everyday life. With eight in our family, it surprises me how we got by.

There seems to be a lot of disagreement in Congress about almost everything the president proposes. From the surveys taken, the majority of Americans agree with him on almost every issue. Why can't the representatives in Congress do the same? Congress is going against the will of the people. This is not good government.

Our country has sunk to a very low point and this is no time for obstructionist attitudes to prevail. Progress is needed for the future of America.

Just like building a house, our government is the foundation and if it is not strong then the house will crumble. At present we have a weak government who will put off voting and filabuster on important matters for political reasons. No more vacations for Congress until they do their job.
