Belleville blotter: Teen gets DUI after driver switch following crash

Published: March 1, 2013

The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

Thursday

3:32 a.m. VEHICLE ACCIDENT-D.U.I./OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE - 3400 block of Old Freeburg Road. Officers respond to a report of a rollover accident. Bradley W. Beene, 25, stated he was the driver of the vehicle. Officers later discovered that Cherise N. Nance, 19, was the actual driver. Beene was arrested for obstruction and Nance was arrested for D.U.I. Both were transported to HQ and processed. Beene was held pending bond. Nance was released after posting bond.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
