Diel & Forguson LLC in O'Fallon hired certified public accountant Laura Schmied as a tax manager. The O'Fallon resident brings 12 years of experience in public accounting.

Interior designer Ashley Mattes joined Louer Facility Planning Inc. in Collinsville. Mattes will be responsible for space planning, furniture specification, finish selection and project management. Louer Facility Planning is a commercial furniture and interior design firm.

Keith Burton, executive vice president of GCS Credit Union, was appointed as a member of the Illinois Governor's Board of Credit Union Advisors. Burton will serve a three-year term as a member of the board. He will advise the governor and the director of the Division of Financial Institutions on credit union matters and making recommendations upon appointments and employment of personnel related to management and regulation of credit unions.

Patti Maul-Moeckel of the Smithton Business Center recently obtained the designation of Enrolled Agent after competing a test on individual tax law, business, corporate, estate and trust law. This new designation allows Maul-Moeckel to represent taxpayers before the IRS in audits, tax law, and collections. She has 37 years of experience in tax preparation and accounting.
