The Gateway Grizzlies and manager Phil Warren have acquired Jose Flores leading up to the 2013 season.
The Grizzlies begin Frontier League play May 17 when Gateway takes on the Lake Erie Crushers in Avon, Ohio.
Flores, 25, will serve as a utility infielder and outfielder for the Grizzlies in 2013. The Venezuela native has seven years of experience in professional baseball, all coming with the San Francisco Giants organization from 2006-2012.
Flores reached Double-A Richmond in 2011 and 2012, appearing in a combined 81 games. The 5-foot-11 175-pound switch-hitter is a career .273 hitter in 484 games with 100 extra base hits and 199 RBI.
"Jose will be able to play multiple positions for us and help us out in a bunch of areas," Warren remarked. "He has experience at a high level and has consistently put up solid numbers in the minors. We are excited to have him on our side."
The Grizzlies 2013 home opener is May 21 when the Grizzlies take on the Joliet Slammers in the friendly confines of GCS Ballpark. Season and group tickets are on sale now. For more information call 618-337-3000.
