Belleville blotter: Arson probed after matches found at site of fire

Published: March 5, 2013

The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

MONDAY

5:10 p.m. ARSON - 2700 block of Brookmeadow Drive. The victim, a 37-year-old male, reported a juvenile neighbor, a 14-year-old boy, advised him he extinguished a small fire next to the victim's house with a garden hose. The victim observed a small bare spot next to his house, melted siding and a burnt pack of matches. The victim stated a similar incident occurred about nine months ago.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
