Belleville blotter: Drunk bar patron accused of punching police officer

Published: March 8, 2013

The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

FRIDAY

12:47 a.m. DRUNKENNESS/AGGRAVATED BATTERY ON POLICE OFFICER - Big Daddy's, 313 E. Main St. Officers responded to Big Daddy's in reference to a report of a problem with a disorderly patron. Officers located the subject, a 23-year-old female, lying on the sidewalk in front of Big Daddy's. The subject was transported to headquarters where she was charged with public intoxication. While being patted down by an officer, the subject struck the officer in the face with her fist. The subject was charged additionally with aggravated battery on a police officer. She was held pending further investigation.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
