The metro-east area's first Menards is tentatively scheduled to open in O'Fallon on April 9.

O'Fallon Zoning and Planning Director Ted Shekell said the new hardware and home improvement store is wrapping up construction at 1179 Central Park Drive. The 162,000-square-foot store hardware and home improvement store also includes a 42,000-square-foot outdoor warehouse.

Eau Claire, Wis.-based Menards has 271 stores in Illinois and across much of the Midwest.

The folks from Glik's has introduced a new line of women's fashion. The Granite City-based clothing and apparel retailer is now buying "fast fashion" items -- designs that move quickly from the catwalk to store to capture current trends in the market -- out of Los Angeles. Glik's established in 1897 and opened its first metro-east store in Madison in 1903. Today, the retailer has 58 stores nationwide, including ones in 3248 Nameoki Road in Granite City, 124 S. Buchanan St. in Edwardsville, 2677 Northtown Way in Highland and 1381 Sparta Center Drive in Sparta.

A Belleville funeral home temporarily relocated following a recent fire. Serenity Memorial Chapel has moved its operation down the street to 8501 W. Main St., but plans to return to its home base at 3416 W. Main St. later this month. In the mean time, you can still reach the funeral home at 233-6000.
