The man who refused to pull over during a traffic stop last week before wrecking his car and fleeing on foot has been charged with a pair of felonies.

Justin A. Cruse, 29, of 903 Juniper St. in O'Fallon, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and aggravated fleeing and eluding. He was also cited for driving with a revoked license, a misdemeanor.

According to police, an officer tried to pull over Cruse just after 11 a.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of West Main Street for an unspecified traffic violation in snowy conditions. The suspect refused to stop his Ford Mustang GT convertible.

While the officer didn't pursue because of dangerous driving conditions, he was able to stay close enough to keep Cruse's car in sight until it crashed a short time later.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot, according to police, but Cruse was quickly tracked down. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the accident before being taken to jail.
