Police are holding an East St. Louis man in connection with a shooting that left his friend with two bullet wounds -- one in each leg.
Police Chief Michael Floore did not release the suspect's name, pending charges. However, he did say the suspect and the victim are friends.
Police went to the 1200 Block of Gaty after they received a report saying a man had been shot and was down, Floore said.
The call came into the Police Department at 12:30 a.m. saying that a man had been shot and that he was down, Floore said.
"Witnesses said the gunman was known to the victim. The gunman knocked at the victim's door, and when the victim opened his door, he was shot once in each leg," Floore said.
The suspect used a handgun in the shooting. It had not been recovered by police as of Monday afternoon.
The unidentified victim and suspect had been together earlier in the day Sunday and had gotten into some sort of altercation, Floore said.
The victim is in stable condition at a local hospital, Floore said.
