Proceed with mercy regarding gay marriage

Published: March 13, 2013

I continue to see people cite the Bible as justification to oppose the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act, HB5170. So rather than make a case based on law I will have to make mine on faith.

How certain are you that the Bible is God's true word, and not the creation of man, or the word of God with man's prejudice mixed in?

We know that the world was not created by man and must therefore be the work of God. Look at the diversity of life and people he put into this world. Why only one religion? Doesn't it better match God's earth to see that God inspired different religions all around the globe with the same basic message and then man added to that message?

Are you 100 percent sure that God wants you to treat my marriage different from yours?

You can show me kindness and let me be your legal equal or show intolerance. I see two scenarios if you pick wrong. You stand before God and he says, "I am against gay marriage, and so were you, but you showed mercy when none was due." If he treats you as you treated me, where will you be?

Or you stand before God and he says, "I am for gay marriage, you weren't and you showed no mercy." If he treats you as you treated me where will you be?

I hope people will support HB5170.
