Family ties broken

Is Mark Burk really a man of his word?

Four years ago, shortly after Burk took office as the St. Clair Township Highway Commissioner, he discovered that I was skilled at finishing concrete as well as having other construction experience. I'm Burk's brother-in-law. Mark called me two and three times a week for about a month asking me to work for him. I agreed and I quit my previous job. I went to work for the township road crew. In the time he called to recruit me, he reassured me and his sister that I would never get laid off. He said there was 20-plus years of work that needed to be done at the township.

Thirteen months later, he did lay me off because I would not join him in his hate toward the other employees. The morning of the day I was laid off, I was told to clean out my locker because the township needed to "exterminate." I got his message loud and clear that afternoon when I was laid off. His "exterminate" comment was intended to insult me because he knew that my parents suffered under the Nazis. I find no humor in Burk's reference to the Holocaust.

Do you really want an elected official like that who lacks respect for others including his own family?
