Belleville police are looking for a person who made several calls to 9-1-1Wednesday claiming to be an injured child.

The suspect told dispatchers that she was 6 years old and that she was home alone. The caller said she fell down a flight of stairs and that she couldn't move because of her injuries. The calls continued from 8-10 p.m.

Several officers and detectives went to the neighborhood where the calls supposedly originated. They knocked on doors and canvassed the area but were unable to find the allegedly injured child.

Police, with help from the cellular phone provider, determined that the calls were a hoax.
