The news brief in the March 5 BND didn't really do Major Gen. Michelle Johnson's selection as the next superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy justice. Her return to lead the school marks her third trip there. She is a 1981 distinguished graduate of the academy and also served as an assistant professor of political science, instructor pilot, and associate air officer commanding there in 1989-1992.
On the homefront, Johnson had two assignments at Scott Air Force Base where she held senior leadership positions at both Air Mobility Command and later at U.S. Transportation Command. A proven leader, she's a great choice to be the academy's first woman superintendent.
