EAST ST. LOUIS — Police are searching for a suspect after a man was left in serious condition with multiple bullet wounds in an early morning shooting Saturday in the 1400 block of North 43rd Street.
East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore said the investigation is in the preliminary stage.
"We do not have a suspect nor do we know a motive for the shooting at this time," Floore said.
"We know that the shooting occurred at 3:44 a.m.," he said. "A caller reported that shots were fired in front of 1419 N. 43rd St.
"At the scene, witnesses told police that the victim was standing in front of the residence when someone in an unknown vehicle drove by and began firing shots from inside of the vehicle."
Floore said the victim, who was not identified, was shot multiple times and is in serious condition at an undisclosed hospital.
