Belleville Diocese Bishop Edward Braxton hit it on the head in his comments about the cardinals choosing of our new pope, Francis. Braxton was clearly referencing media "experts" and those who thought they knew who should lead the Catholic Church better than the Holy Spirit's guidance of the Cardinals.
The bishop's point was that the choosing of Cardinal Jorge Borgoglio clearly demonstrated that the Holy Spirit was guiding the cardinals. How could you think otherwise when you hear what he's done and taught?
Here is a man of God who not only has studied, knows and clearly taught the beauty of the Catholic Church, but has also lived it as Christ did: in humility. His being with the poor of Argentina, the washing of the feet of AIDS patients and expectant mothers, his clear teachings of the gifts of marriage and the recognition of the discrimination against children adopted by same-sex couples, has shown he will stay true to the teachings of the church and live as Christ serving others.
Soon after being elected, his staying on the floor with the cardinals to greet them, his paying the hotel bill on his own, his asking the faithful to pray for him before he prayed for the faithful, and his greeting of the faithful after Mass, are some great examples that we will have a pope for the people.
