Three first grade classes at Westhaven Elementary School in Belleville got together to put on a brief welcoming skit about perseverance for officials, educators and other students who attended the Illinois Honor Roll ceremony at Westhaven Wednesday morning. The event was held to present Honor Roll certificates to 17 schools from within 13 school districts that were named to the 2012 Illinois Honor Roll. Members of the Illinois State Board of Education were in attendance, and after the ceremony they toured Belleville East High School then convened at the District 201 high school board office (on the campus of Lindenwood University-Belleville) for their regular session Wednesday afternoon.
