A conference for those who work with survivors of domestic violence is next month in Belleville.
The conference, Re-engaging for the Future: Best Practices for Working With Domestic Violence Survivors, is April 9 at National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. It is presented by the Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois and the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Nursing.
The guest speaker is Dr. Elaine Albert from the University of British Columbia. Albert is the co-author of "Intimate Partner Violence: The Clinician's Guide to Identification, Assessment, Intervention and Prevention" and is internationally known for her work with the intersection of victimization and health care for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.
The cost of the conference is $25 which is includes lunch and continuing education credits available for nursing, social workers and certified domestic violence professionals.
