There's a wise old saying: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Mark Burk has been doing a great job as St. Clair Township Highway Commissioner, so why would you want to bring in an unknown? He has reduced road taxes by 5 percent over four years when instead most taxes are increasing. He reduced the number of road employees and still completed a record number of work projects in four years.
He repaired and repaved many streets that had been promised to be replaced many years ago. Some had such high crowns it was hard to walk down the street unless you walked in the middle.
He cut energy use in the offices and garage by 50 percent, though that may not have pleased the power company. Isn't that something to be applauded? How many of you can say that any tax you pay went down and yet your services went up?
He may not be part of the good ol' boy political regime that looks after their own interests and not those of the taxpayer, but wouldn't you rather have someone who works for you and not for them?
Vote to re-elect Mark on April 9.
