Case for the Democratic Party

Published: March 21, 2013

Letter writer Kathy Craig said I've been hoodwinked and bamboozled by the Democratic Party. On the other hand, I believe she's suffering with a bout of masochism, suffering peacefully while thrilling over her Republican Party's efforts to privatize Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security to rip off the American people; give humongous bonuses to their CEOs, and when all fails, expect the government to bail them out with our tax dollars.

Craig said Democrat leaders tried to keep the civil rights law from passing. Republican leaders aren't without fault. During reconstruction, the Republicans, who'd won power in the government, allowed the South to snatch away black people's civil and human rights, which weren't reinstated until almost 100 years later, with the coming of Martin Luther King.

Craig said I must be satisfied with the population being dependent on the Democrats doling out what they think people need. No, not anymore than she should be satisfied with people forced to accept handouts because they're deprived of work, in addition to her Republican leaders supporting jobs going overseas.

Craig is confused. President Obama is not playing the race card and the blame game. He's the one who's enduring the indignities and disrespect from Simple Simons who can't accept the fact that the president is a black man. Or least half-black.

I agree with Craig that no political party is perfect. That's why I chose the party whose leaders aren't haughty, obstructive and downright vicious -- the Democratic Party.
