Top issues: I don't have an agenda for seeking this position. My top priority will be to work collaboratively with the current board and administration so that our school system remains a place where our children will excel, be safe, and establish educational values under the guidance of exceptional teachers. Education: B.S. in Elementary Education

Previous offices: School Board Member (2 year term)

Qualifications: As a resident, a former elementary school teacher, parent, and substitute teacher in Shiloh, I feel I have rare insight and therefore, a wonderful opportunity to serve the community as a board member. In order to serve the community better I have taken Illinois Association of School Board training to educate myself on governance, finance and legal issues. I seek opinions and listen to the concerns of my constituents then act on them in board meetings. I have a passion for education and children with a vested interest in the district's success. I am proud to be a Shiloh resident and I look forward to working for the community as a District 85 board of education member.

Top issues: In light of today's economic crisis in Illinois, my main priority is to ensure the district continues to be fiscally responsible so we can maintain our quality teachers, smaller classroom sizes, and programs. I am happy to say recently I spearheaded one of my top priorities, a policy change that will require proof of residency annually for all new and returning students. With Illinois State Aid not being fully paid to our district this new policy should help protect taxpayers from making up the difference for those students not living within our district boundaries. Also, it is my desire to see Shiloh as a premiere, cutting-edge district giving all students and staff the tools to be successful through creating a safe environment, innovative curriculum ideas, and the use of technology to develop more enthusiastic, critical thinking students.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Business

Previous offices: School Board member

Qualifications: I am a 25-year resident of Shiloh who has been actively involved in the community. My wife Kim & I have been married for 17 years and have two high school-aged children that previously attended Shiloh schools. When our children were younger I coached their baseball & soccer teams, and for seven years was a board member of the Shiloh Youth Athletic Association and the Shiloh/O'Fallon athletic board, acting as Vice President and later as Treasurer. For the past 27 years I have been employed with the Automobile Club of Missouri (AAA) in the Information Systems Department, currently as Applications Manager leading a team of computer programmers. Currently I am seeking a second term as a member of the Shiloh School Board. During my first term I have been a major proponent of identifying explicit goals and metrics that should be used by the board and administration to determine how well our children are being prepared for high school and life. I have also been an advocate for additional technology in the classroom, and currently serve on the Technology, Policy, and Finance committees.

Top issues: The next four years will be very challenging for the district. The No. 1 issue continues to be the finances of the state of Illinois and how they impact school districts. While Shiloh School District has been able to largely weather the storm to-date, some very tough decisions will need to be made in the years to come if the state's finances continue to deteriorate. The other major challenges facing the district will implementing the new common core standards and changes to how teachers are evaluated.
