Rick Ringwald was recently promoted by Regions Financial Corp. as a community banking relationship manager in Madison and St. Clair counties.
His title: Community Banking Relationship Manager for Regions Financial Corp. in Madison and St. Clair counties
His new role is not all that new because he will continue his role in working with metro-east communities and businesses. He talked to business writer Will Buss about his new job:
What does a community banking relationship manager do?
"I focus on working with business owners and municipalities. I focus on working with developing relationships and helping them meet financial goals and trying to bring new ideas to the table."
How long have you been with the bank?
"I've been with the bank for five years as of May, so less than five years. I have been the manager of the Highland branch."
Where else have you worked in this industry?
"When I came out of college, I worked with Stifel Nicolaus in St. Louis and I had a Series 7 and a Series 66 license, so I could buy and sell stocks. Then, I worked for Wells Fargo for five years. I spent most of my time in Edwardsville, Granite City and Fairview Heights. I was with them for five years as well. Three of those years were spent in the metro-east. In the last eight years, I've been working in the metro-east."
What does that mean?
"Really being able to focus my time working with business owners. I just enjoy developing relationships with them and being able to help them bring ideas to the table and meet their financial goals. Throughout all my jobs, I've always had that role."
How do you help them?
"I just try to help their business whether it is with efficiencies or cash flow, whether they have been renting their building, it may might make sense to buy since rates are low. We're trying to bring ideas that they haven't thought about making them think about things a little bit. Sometimes they have little different approach, whether it's something other people in their industry are doing, incorporating that and just looking at this a different way from an outsider's perspective."
Where will you be working?
"My office will be in Granite City. I'm in Belleville at 4800 W. Main St. right now."
What have you enjoyed most about your new post?
"Really just getting out and working with business owners in northern St. Clair County and southern Madison County and just helping them try and get things going."
