I have been reading in the paper about other areas, even countries, where they are having droughts or weather problems affecting crops.
I know that the environmentalists are interested in global warming and the oceans rising. Have the environmentalists suggested any solutions or ideas on how to combat food and water shortages? So many food crops and animals depend on the normal weather patterns to provide the needed water for survival.
Some regions have large reservoirs for water storage to provide irrigation during dry weather, but storage time and distribution is limited.
Have the planners thought about providing water collection and distribution systems that cover several states or the nation? This could be used both for irrigation and flood control.
This is an expensive, wild and difficult project to design and build but it could be done. Transport water from flooded areas to drought areas and storage areas.
Naturally there are problems, such as distribution of construction costs, maintenance cost, management and operations, operational procedure and jurisdiction. I guess that is why we have engineers, architects, accountants, construction workers, material suppliers, schedulers, managers and maintenance personnel. Politicians need not apply.
This cannot be discussed or solved in 250 words. Rome was not built in a day, but they did think ahead.
