A Granite City man is accused of breaking a victim's windows in her car and residence.
Justin R. Anderson, 22, of 648 Margaret Ave., was charged Monday in connection with attempted residential burglary, according to Madison County Sheriff's Office Captain T. Mike Dixon.
According to the police report, Madison County deputies responded to a burglary in progress about 4:30 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 200 block of Lenox Avenue in Granite City. The victim reported an unknown subject had attempted to enter her residence by busting out a rear window. The homeowner told the suspect to leave before he was able to enter the home. The suspect then broke out one of the window's in the victim's car, which was parked on the property.
Deputies found the suspect near the victim's car. The suspect was taken into custody and identified as Anderson. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and had a small cut on his left hand, according to Dixon. Anderson was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
A search revealed Anderson possessed less than 10 grams of cannabis, police said.
He was transported to the Madison County Jail.
Anderson also was charged in connection with misdemeanor offenses of unlawful possession of cannabis, criminal trespassing, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
His bail was set at $75,000.
