A certain liberal letter writer likes to point out what conservatives don't "get." Well. there are many things that liberals need a revelation on.
First, defense of science is universal. If you feel that scientific data supports evolution and global warming, you must support the fact that life begins at conception. Thus, abortion is eliminating a living person, not fetal tissue as liberals would argue.
Second, government does not create real jobs. Government is good at creating a number of nonessential positions that are good at perpetuating the red tape of bureaucracy.
Third, distribution of wealth is not a cure-all. Modern government is addicted to creating and funding social programs that produce a drain on the economy as a whole. And those programs with merit, such as Social Security, Medicare and the post office, are suffering from a lack of clear leadership. The government needs to learn the meaning of a budget, just as individuals do. We cannot spend ourselves to prosperity.
Finally, the government needs to understand that we are all adults. We do not need a nanny to instruct us on what is harmful and use legislation as a tool to hinder our freedom of choice. There are plenty of despots in the world who will provide that type of government for those who desire that type of leadership.
