Should the rental business profit on the taxpayers' dime?
As it was stated at a recent meeting, we are the baby-sitters (a committee member made the statement) of the renters when the landlords are sleeping, and are out of town. They need help running their business.
Tthey should hire security guards and office help to process the paper work; the burden should not be on the residents of Belleville.
The rental business should be treated as any other business.
You take banks, stores and any other type of business where there is crime and the city does not put up the police officers or office workers as it will take for this crime-free housing program. What makes them so special?
The residents of Belleville should not be helping the rental business make a profit. We have property in Belleville that they can't control now; this will just put more burden on the city staff.
