The Easter Bunny will be working overtime this weekend just to make sure all the egg hunts, meet-and-greets, breakfasts with the bunny and Easter parties in the metro-east are a huge success.
Heres a look at some Easter events around the metro-east:
CASEYVILLE PARTY: The Caseyville Fire Department Auxiliary is planning its 22nd annual Easter Party with the Big Guy from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Caseyville Community Building, 909 S. Main St., Caseyville. Admission is free. Pictures with Easter Bunny are $4 each. There will be lots of games to play; tickets are four for $1. Hot dogs or tuna sandwiches will be available for $1; soda and chips are 50 cents. You can receive one raffle ticket for cans of food or money donated to Caseyville Food Pantry.
EASTER EGG HUNT: The YMCA of Southwest Illinois has been helping the Easter Bunny hide more than 20,000 eggs for you to hunt Saturday at GCS in Sauget. Admission is free. The event is from 9 a.m. to noon and includes the egg hunt (Register from 9 to 10 a.m., begin hunting at 10.); an inflatable bounce house; a climbing wall Zumba and Zumbatonic demonstrations; Kid Fit demonstrations and face painting. The event is being presented in partnership with the Gateway Grizzlies.
ORCHARDS PARADE: Golf cart floats, a police car, a fire truck and the Easter Bunny will highlight an Easter Parade at 11 a.m. Saturday in The Orchards subdivision in Belleville. Judging starts at 10:30 a.m. in the cul-de-sac on 2nd Fairwway Drive. An Easter egg hunt will follow.
EASTER EGG HUNT: Kids can test their hide-and-seek skill during the Washington Park Emergency Organization's Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday at Washington Park Mini Park, 5600 Forest Blvd. There will be prize eggs and free photos with Easter Bunny and Peter Rabbit. Donations and volunteers are needed; information at 618-301-7225.
EASTER EGG HUNT: Crafts, storytime, pictures with the Easter Bunny and an egg hunt are all part of the action from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hope Church, 200 Dapron Drive in Belleville. It's for children from newborns through 12 years old. Doughnuts and fruit will be served at 9 a.m. The egg hut begins at 10:30 a.m. and there will be prizes and raffles. Information: 618-234-2358.
EASTER CELEBRATION: Knollwood Retirement Community will host its annual Easter Celebration at 1 p.m. Friday in the activity center. It's free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served at 1 p.m., followed by an egg hunt. There will be music, games and prizes, and the Easter Bunny will make an appearance for photos. BREAFAST AND HUNT: Easter Bunny plans to bring the Mrs. along for photos (two pictures for $2) to an Easter celebratin Saturday in the multipurpose room at First United Presbyterian Church, 1303 Royal Heights Road in Belleville. Doors open at 9 a.m. The egg hunt with prize eggs begins about 10:45 a.m. Admission of $3 includes a continental breakfast, entertainment by Harvey the Juggler, face painting, the egg hunt and attendance prizes. EASTER AT ECKERT'S: Eckert's Country Store in Belleville will hold its annual Easter Egg-Citement event Friday and Saturday. Admission of $10 per child includes egg hunts at 10 and 11 a.m. and noon, 1 and 2 p.m. both days; face painting; seeing baby chicks and bunnies; planting a seed; and Easter treats. Photos with the Easter Bunny are $7 each. Eckert's also will host Breakfast with the Bunny from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $5 per child and $10 per adult.
