A 65-year-old Edwardsville man was charged Wednesday with driving under the influence and possessing a controlled a substance.
William F. Davis, of 901 Prickett Ave., was charged with aggravated driving under the influence while his license was revoked/suspended and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, according to Madison County Sheriff's Office Captain T. Mike Dixon.
About 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, deputies stopped the vehicle Davis was driving on Collinsville Road and Fairmont Avenue. Deputies reported that Davis smelled of alcohol, slurred his speech, had blood-shot eyes, and fell down while speaking with a deputy, according to Dixon.
Davis was arrested for DUI and driving while his license was revoked.
Davis was transported to the Madison County Jail, where a deputy found six Hydrocodone tablets and less than 2.5 grams of cannabis in Davis' coat pocket, Dixon said.
Davis also was charged with a misdemeanor of unlawful possession of cannabis and issued a traffic citation for disobeying a traffic control device.
Bail for Davis was set at $20,000.
