A rally is planned to benefit the family and scholarship fund of a Illinois State Trooper killed in the line of duty.
The Trooper Deatherage Rally will be put on April 20 by the Reguladores Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and the Trooper Kyle Deatherage Fundraiser Foundation.
Deatherage, 32, of Highland, died in November after being hit by a truck during a traffic stop on Interstate 55 near Litchfield.
The event will raise funds to help support Deatherage's family and the Trooper Kyle Deatherage Scholarship Fund. The trooper left behind his wife, Sarah, 4-year-old daughter, Kaylee, and 1-year-old son, Camden.
An all-vehicle welcome rally starts in Alton and ends in Troy.
The sign up will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ted's Motorcycle World in Alton. It will feature food and live entertainment. Play cards for the rally will be on sale for one for $10 or three for $20; cash prizes will be awarded at the end.
The rally ends about 2 p.m. at Tri-Township Park in Troy. The park will feature family-friendly activities, including bounce houses, face painting, child fingerprinting, an auction and raffle, food and beverages and appearances by Fredbird and Izzy the Grizzly.
The Illinois State Police Honor Guard will perform a presentation of the colors at 5 p.m. Atomic Taco will perform from 6 to 10 p.m.
