I appreciate Vinmann's opinion about furloughs (an online comment reprinted on A5 last Sunday) and our country's standard of free speech.
I have trouble following the math -- one day a week vs. 10 percent. Could be a disconnect as simple as subtraction, because he thinks federal employees are overpaid by 10 percent, we are only sacrificing 10 percent.
It's a common occurrence I've noticed, opinion being confused with fact. One-fifth or two-tenths still equal 20 percent.
Despite our elected officials throwing us under the bus, don't confuse the federal government with its workers. Their pay and benefits don't appear affected, do they?
We are thankful we have a job and we pay tax on the wage we earn.
