James J. Harrigan's recent letter insulted the Tea Party in general, and U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan for proposing a 10-year budget plan. Harrigan claims that the country only needs an annual budget, and that Congress is responsible for the budget crisis.
Our country has been punished with trillion-dollar deficits in each of the last four years. The Senate has had a Democrat majority for the entire time, and the House was Democrat-controlled for half of the time. Yet somehow Harrigan only criticizes Republicans.
When Democrats nostalgically recall the brief surplus under Bill Clinton, I wonder how quickly Harrigan points out that the Republican Congress deserves the credit.
