Frankly, I'm getting tired of letter writer H. Ray Sigler picking on my church. I was going to disregard it but decided not to.
Long ago, my dad taught me that I was never to ridicule anyone's religion. I have gone to Mass every Sunday for 70 years and I have yet to hear a bad word about any other religion. In fact, I have heard their outstanding good traits complimented. That is something I am proud of.
We are thrilled to see that another direct successor of St. Peter has been elected. We pray that he will be a true servant of the servants of God. If Sigler doesn't like it he can turn off the TV or radio.
The Catholic Churches of the world do not worship Mary or any other saint. We do ask for their intercessory prayers. All prayer goes straight to God. That is the communion of saints mentioned in the Apostle's Creed.
By the way, I was "born again" and filled with the Holy Spirit in the sacrament of baptism.
Of course, I don't expect Sigler to believe a word of what I've written. He doesn't have to believe me. However, if he is a "real Christian," he will show some Christian charity in his speech.
