The forum about the O'Fallon District 90 referendum scheduled for Tuesday night will go on as planned despite the withdrawal of one of the group's slated to participate.
Citizens Against District 90 Tax Increases, the group opposing the referendum, announced its withdrawal last week stating the rules set by the forum's sponsor United Congregations of Metro-East would impose censorship. Preserving Excellence in District 90, the group supporting the referendum, will still participate in the forum.
The debate will continue to focus on the District 90 referendum, UCM spokeswoman Cheryl Sommer said.
The referendum on the April 9 ballot seeks a property tax increase. The district is asking voters for a 49-cent increase, bringing the education fund rate from $1.40 to $1.89.
The forum will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at New Life in Christ Interdenominational Church, 689 Scott Troy Rd. The moderator is Carol Daniel, news anchor at KMOX radio.
