Swansea and St. Clair Township are in the middle of a very important sewer contract negotiations. Unfortunately, Swansea Trustee Brian Wells has chosen to do everything he can to make negotiations more difficult.
First, Wells announced that he wants Swansea to bill township customers directly if negotiations do not go his way. The current contract is still in force until 2015, so why would he say something like that now? Swansea billing township customers would create a legal nightmare.
Second, he wrote a letter to the editor mischaracterizing a township board meeting and claimed that the meeting was a "fiasco." Did this improve the atmosphere for negotiations?
Third, Wells includes the following statement in his campaign literature: "I also support Jaynie Wells for St. Clair Township trustee. She will work to ensure the township pays its fair share for sewer services."
Jaynie Wells is Brian Wells' wife. This quote infuriates township sewer customers and makes negotiations that much harder.
In summary, Brian Wells' behavior is seriously jeopardizing the resolution of a critical sewer contract between Swansea and St. Clair Township.
