In response to Brad VanHoose's letter on Tuesday, "Stick to the issues."
The mailer he is referring to should in no way be construed as being discrimination against the elderly because I consider myself elderly. The mailer simply points out the fact that two of the Caseyville Township trustees are not doing their jobs. If VanHoose had ever attended a township board meeting, he could have seen this for himself.
VanHoose has long been a supporter of a candidate for mayor in Caseyville, even though VanHoose is not a resident of Caseyville or even Caseyville Township. I believe he is employed by this candidate as a grass cutter. I am sure he would like to see his boss get elected to further his own personal gain.
In reference to his statement that Dale Black was doing the residents of Caseyville a service by using township equipment to plow snow at a church, Black knows this is not his appointed area. He is responsible for maintaining the roads and easements of the unincorporated area of the township. He has been told repeatedly by the township board to cease activity within village limits yet he sneaks down there so the residents can see the name Black on the side of the trucks in an attempt to further his father's name, who is running for mayor.
I think VanHoose should concentrate on election issues within his community (Belleville), where perhaps his vote could make a difference. Comments concerning Caseyville should be left up to the village residents.
