This opening day in St. Louis will be like no other

Opening day in St. Louis is usually a no holds barred party.

But I have to admit that I feel a little bit bittersweet about going to the ballpark for the opener this year.

Sure, the Clydesdales will be there. And the players will ride around the field in the preamp parade. But I just can't imagine it's going to be the same without the greatest Cardinal of them all, Stan Musial, inside a packed Busch Stadium.

This will be the first time Stan the Man's extended family will be together since he passed away in January at the age of 92. So I'm sure the crowd, in many ways, will be in a reflective mood.

Hopefully, the modern day Cardinals will rise to the occasion and put up a big win today in honor of Musial. I'm sure he would have loved nothing better.

People always say, whatever they're doing, that the person they lost would have wanted them to be doing exactly that. But, on this occasion, I believe it's true. Stan would have wanted us all to be at Busch Stadium rooting on the Redbirds and standing up for the home team.
