I am writing to complain about BND reporter Will Buss.
My husband runs a restaurant in O'Fallon called Schiappa's. We recently closed our doors in one location and have relocated to another O'Fallon location.
On March 20 Buss wrote a short article titled, "Schiappa's Italian Restaurant has closed." From the article, I could tell that he did not research very well. He stated the new location's address but said he could not get in touch with us to see whether the restaurant was moving to that location. If he drove by the location, as reporters should do, he would have seen that we have a sign up.
When my husband called him and asked him to write a new article saying that we have relocated, Buss came back with the article titled, "Mike Shannon's new restaurant: Is it a home run?" Interested to see where Shannon new location was, I found a few paragraphs about our restaurant sandwiched between Shannon's restaurant and information about Scott Credit Union.
I don't expect special treatment for our restaurant over others, but when Mr. Buss titles "Schiappa's restaurant closed" and said he would write a new article, I didn't expect it to be titled, "Mike Shannon's new restaurant: Is it a home run?" He should have printed a bold headline stating that Schiappa's has relocated and will reopen soon.
I am disappointed in Buss. What he did was unfair to my family. We are hard-working people who are trying to make our lives better, but with headlines that include the word "closed" and then putting the correct information in Mike Shannon's article was mean. Such power he has with the lives of my family and 30 employees' livelihoods.
